A new poetic form: the Jubilee

September 5, 2020November 20, 2020 Caitlin

People say "necessity is the mother of invention," but did I need to create a new poetic form?Maybe. In any case, I'd like to share with you a form I came up with called the "Jubilee."

Clatter and Echo: A Poem

December 22, 2019March 11, 2020 Caitlin

Limericks, as you likely know, are generally humorous, and the subject here is not. While this structure may seem like an odd choice for this poem, I think the rhythm and rhyme of it add to the tale, and perhaps the chaos of the main character's situation.

Happy birthday to my awesome sister @eskvorc! It's been a year since we took those first two pics 😭 and obviously more since the others were taken...plz enjoy our childhood and teenage years and early 20s :)
Meeting @ryanadams and getting him to sign this 7" sleeve after seeing him perform at @carnegiehall hours before my 30th birthday was by far the highlight of my weekend, but I was also blessed with the opportunity to meet @carenlissner today and have her sign one of my favorite novels-turned-movie, #carriepilby. Shout out to @hannahbulov for navigating and ferrying us back and forth through three states over the last few days, and to @seanbuxbaum for being down for all the adventures. These pictures are only a glimpse of all the fun we've had and things we've done! #ryanadams #dra #paxam #nyc
If you look closely, you can see a double🌈!
In case you're wondering what to get me for my 30th birthday on the 15th 👀 pretty much all I ever want these days are books and music 😁
Mark your calendars! I know most people are tired of Zoom, but I'd really appreciate it if you'd hop on to listen to me (and others) read some @rosemerry.trommer poems (and help me cope with turning 30) next month 😁
#flashbackfriday to @relientk at @masquerade_atl like a month ago w/ @seanbuxbaum 🤩🤩🤩
I made #waffles. Happy Easter!
Happy #NationalPoetryMonth, friends & fellow #poetsofinstagram. Here's one from February that I shared on the Rattlecast and decided to publish here. It's a golden shovel #poem based on a song from last year's @angelsandairwaves album.
#tbt to this #poem from my first chapbook, [Songs from the Underground], a collection of work primarily generated during my undergraduate education at Gustavus Adolphus College, under the tutelage of former Minnesota Poet Laureate Joyce Sutphen. I gave this painting to her before I graduated, so I'm glad I have a record of it. She and I don't see eye to eye on publishing, but I still respect her as a #poet and am grateful for her literary guidance at a crucial time in my #writing life.
Time for a #poem. A triolet, to be specific. For #Ukraine, obviously. I wrote it a couple weeks ago, submitted to three journals, and no one wanted it. So maybe it's not that original, but it's all I've got.
Gooooood morning :D
