Set in small-town, coastal Maine, this is a story of grief and ghosts. Freelance writer Amelia (“Mia” to her family) loses her grandmother and travels north with her sister, Gabbie, to visit their grandfather for the summer. Shortly after their arrival, Amelia realizes she can hardly be a comfort to anyone with her own past haunting her. When she meets Russell, 11 years her senior, Amelia thinks she may have found a kindred spirit — a saving grace, even. But when the truth gets lost in trust, no one is safe.
